Mother Hat is a woven, wearable hat, topped with a nest made from my cut hair, porcupine needles, and moss from my yard. The base of the hat is made from my garden daylily leaves, Kentucky coffee bean branches, found robin feathers, and found robins' eggs. Mother Hat speaks to ideas and obligations of homemaking, nesting, nurturing, protection, defense, care, and sacrifice. It speaks to notions of nature vs nurture, to all that mother's carry and balance, and to the delicate lines that blur what nurtures, what protects, and what destroys.

Instructions for wearing: Proceed with care. Walk slowly and with caution. Remember to breathe.
